East Main St. bike lanes now officially OPEN!

8/16/2014

A year after ODOT re-paved East Main St. from downtown Lancaster to the US 22/Rt. 37 split, markings have been painted on the asphalt designating the shoulders as bike lanes on both sides of the street.

The new route begins at the soccer fields next to the former Big Bear Plaza and continues to the eastern Lancaster city limits.  A suggested route from the bridge at Mary Burnham Park (near the E. Main Kroger store) to the new bike lanes can be found on the Maps page.

Thanks to Lancaster Parks and Recreation, Mayor Dave Smith, the Lancaster City Engineering Department, and FHTA President Eric Oberg for keeping on this project and making it a reality. The new bike lanes add about 3-1/2 miles to the Lancaster Heritage Trail system.

Enjoy the Trails!

The new FHTA.org website is on-the-air

1/16/2014

Well....

After a number of fits and starts, we've finally unleashed FHTA's new website onto an unsuspecting world. Take a look around to find out what FHTA is all about.  We hope to make this site the go-to place on the Internet for information about alternative transportation in Fairfield County, Ohio.

  • Do you want to find a new trail to ride?  Head on over to our Maps page to see what's available.
  • Looking for information on joining FHTA?  You've come to the right place.
  • Did you always wonder just what the heck FHTA is (isn't that "the Bike Trail group")?  Click here to find out.
  • Find a tree branch too big to pick up across the trail? Feel free to Report a Trail Issue to the proper authorities.

There's quite a bit more than just the above on this site.  You'll find a calendar of events, meeting locations, ride and run info, and lots more if you dig around a bit. If you have a suggestion or comment, hit the Contact Us page and let us know what you have in mind.  Visit us on Facebook, and by all means...
Enjoy the trails!
