Trail Maps

Fairfield County has quite a few trails, from traditional "bike trails" to "share the road" routes and mountain bike trails (MTB).  To make things easier to find, we've broken down the county into areas. Pickerington and Lancaster have the most extensive trail systems.  A short section of the Johns Trail in Amanda will eventually connect with the Lancaster trail system.  Plans are also afoot to connect other areas of the county using "Share the Road" routes on county and township roads, and on existing city streets.  This page will be updated as new trail sections open up to the public. Click on the map or use the links below to view specific maps for areas of the county.  Use the maps to find parking locations and points of interest along the trails.

Trails marked in green are existing trails, those marked in orange are suggested connector routes, and those marked in blue are bike routes on public roads. Connector routes aren't part of any particular trail system, but use streets, county and township roads, or highways. Please observe all safety precautions and rules while riding on connector routes and public roads.

Lancaster area trail system

Currently, the Lancaster Heritage Trail consists of about 15 miles of paved trail and a small amount of shared street trails.  A rider can start at Forest Rose School/Ohio University - Lancaster on the northeast side of town, and ride all the way to River Valley Mall and the Shops at Ety Rd.  Dedicated bike lanes on East Main St. (US 22) allow riders a safe route all the way to the US 22/Ohio Rt 37 split.  A suggested on-street connector route links Mary Burnham Park and the East Main St. Kroger store with the bike lanes.

Pickerington area trail system

The Pickerington area has a number of trail systems, including bike lanes on both sides of Ohio Rt. 256 that connect Olde Town Pickerington to the west end of Baltimore.

Franklin County MetroParks' Blacklick Woods Trail connects to the larger trail system in and around Columbus.

Diley Road Trail connects the south end of Pickerington to Canal Winchester and the US Route 33 Hill-Diley interchange.  There's also a suggested route along Wright Road that connects Diley Rd. to Pickerington Ponds Metro Park.

Amanda/Johns Trail

Amanda has a short section of trail that connects the west end of Amanda to School Street on the north end of the village.  Future plans include extending the Amanda/Johns Trail along US Route 22 and connecting to the Lancaster Trail system.

Mountain Bike Trails

Chestnut Ridge Metro Park has a mountain bike trail that was developed in conjunction with C.O.M.B.O., the Central Ohio Mountain Biking Organization.

The trail is accessible via an access road on Mason Rd. NW, off Winchester Road NW, on the west side of Chestnut Ridge park.

Check the trail description page at MTBProject.com for a detailed overview of the trail.

You can also visit Metro Parks' Chestnut Ridge webpage, the C.O.M.B.O. forum at the OhioSingleTrack website, or C.O.M.B.O.'s Facebook page for more information.

There is another MTB trail on private property at Geneva Hills in the southern part of Fairfield County.  Visit the Geneva Hills website for more information.
